Ian Gwagi (popularly known as Ian Gwaggy), creative practitioner, cultural organiser and poetry advocate, who is also the founder of Cre8tive Spills Collective, described the festival thus:
“Since 2008, we have used spoken word, music, theatre, film and visual storytelling to inspire thought, spark dialogue and contribute to social transformation, while creating platforms where artists and audiences can meet on equal footing. The 2025 edition of the festival is another dynamic celebration of spoken word, live music and storytelling, featuring regional and continental artists alongside workshops and creative exchange.”
In addition to the traditional poetry slam competition format, this new edition will also feature guest performances from poets, storytellers, musicians, and other creators from all across Africa and the diaspora.
