Witsprouts Books has unveiled the cover of Under the Rain, a forthcoming romantic suspense novel by Nigerian author Ayo Deforge, scheduled for release on December 1, 2025.
The story traces the lives of Bolaji and Shola, two childhood friends whose bond deepens through adolescence and matures into love during their university years. Their dreams of a future together are shattered when they discover they are both sickle cell trait carriers, forcing them to confront painful decisions. While Shola chooses to move abroad and marry someone else, Bolaji immerses himself in his medical career and family life. Years later, a chance encounter rekindles old feelings and compels Bolaji to face the choices that once tore them apart.
Described as a tale of enduring love and difficult choices, the novel examines how health realities intersect with personal relationships and what it means to seek second chances.
Published by Witsprouts Books, Under the Rain will be available in bookstores and online beginning December 1, 2025.
