The New Voices Contest 2026 (Fiction), run by the Creatives Project Ghana, has announced its longlist of 14 writers under the theme “A Country in Motion.” The longlisted writers and their works are:

  • “A Fellow Ghanaian’s Report” by Gladys Naa Kwarley Quarshie
  • “A Song Of Thousand Parts” by Ahobaa-Kwofie Abigail
  • “Beneath The Embrace Of A Baobab Tree” by Papa Mmireku Ohene-Agyekum
  • “Borrowed Wings” by Asare Eugene Obeng
  • “Drift into the Night” by Benjamin Nambu
  • “Fusion” by Ruby Excel
  • “God Is Stuck in Accra Traffic” by Richmond Kofi Offei Anokye
  • “I Won’t Stay” by Eric Nii Okai Dormon
  • “In and Out of Accra” by Pearl Adjavon
  • “Kasoa Straight!” by Terry Galley
  • “Mankoadze Roundabout” by David Kojo Amakye
  • “Outside the Photograph” by Joshua Addo
  • “Seat No. 22” by Baba Dua Mohammed Jawad
  • “Thirty Seven” by Phoebe Nortey

Supported by City Reads, Writers Project of Ghana, NadèLi, HummingBird Journal, GFTD GHNS, AKWAABA.APP, New Comma, JAYLit: The Journal of African Youth Literature, and Writing Africa, the 2026 longlisted writers will receive publication in a special-edition issue of HummingBird Journal, alongside a featured reading, workshops, and a certificate of recognition. 

The competition will offer additional opportunities to writers who advance to the shortlist. Shortlisted entries will receive a featured reading, anthology publication, mentorship with an established writer, workshops, certificates of recognition, and spotlight promotion across the contest’s platforms.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Goethe-Institut Ghana in Cantonments, Accra, as part of the Pagya Festival.
