Communa Magazine unveils the winner and the runners-up of the prestigious short story competition in celebration of creativity and storytelling. The winner and the runners-up are:
First Place
- Chideraa Ike-Akaenyi clinched the top spot with her captivating story, “Kaleidoscope”
Second Place
- Oriada Dajko with her beautifully crafted tale, “The House Made of Books”
Third Place
- Didi-Ere Stephanie Moruku’s “Homecoming” earned her third place in the contest.
Chideraa Ike-Akaenyi writes stories for and about women who dare. Her published works in Agbowo, Itanile, Ngiga Review, and other magazines explore grieving, and vendetta as therapy. a two-time Awele Creative Trust Award finalist (2021 & 2023), she balances writing about women’s experiences with editing data insights at her day job and editing nonfiction for Isele Magazine.
Oriada Dajko is a cultural researcher, young poet, and short story writer from Tirana, Albania. She has represented Albania in various festivals and international literary activities for young writers. Oriada has been awarded national and regional literary prizes and has received recognition for her contributions to society through citizen journalism and her work with youth.
Didi-Ere Stephanie Moruku is a budding writer and a graduate of optometry from the University of Benin, Edo State, nigeria. Writing is all of three things for her: a hobby, an unpaid therapy and a much needed escape from reality. She sees writing as her voice-a device that allows her to be confrontational without being judged for her tone or facial expressions. She aspires to get better by writing one word at a time, one story at a time.
Communa is a dynamic platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of communities and movements that resonate with its mission. Through its magazine, Communa introduces writers, visual storytellers, and artists to broader audiences, giving a stage to underserved interests and communities. The platform is a space for creative expression, offering original content that spans profiles, poetry, essays, and cultural commentary.
