The Creative African Nexus(CANEX), has announced its participants for the second edition of the CANEX Creative Writing workshop, a keystone initiative of the CANEX Book Factory programme with the goal of highlighting and elevating the book value chain across the globe.
Following the call for submissions from June 26th to July 10, 2025, 20 participants were selected from a large pool of entries . These writers will undergo a five-day, in-person residency in Algiers, Algeria, running alongside the Creative Africa Nexus programme at the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (CANEX@IATF 2025). The workshop will feature masterclasses with acclaimed authors and publishing professionals, in addition to other benefits.

The CANEX Creative Writing Workshop is dedicated to equipping aspiring writers of Africa and Caribbean descent with intensive mentorship designed to nurture the next generation of African literary voices. As an intensive programme, it is focused on training participants in creative writing for trade books (fiction and creative nonfiction), industry literacy, and professional growth.

Sarah Adeyemo
Sarah Adeyemo, SWAN IX, is a Nigerian poet, writer, editor, spoken word artiste and communication expert. The debut author of “The Shape of Silence”. She draws inspiration from solitude and experiences. She is a fellow of the SprinNG Writing Fellowship. Her works appeared or are forthcoming in The Shallow Tales Review, The Muse Journal, The Weganda Review, Everscribe Magazine, Afrillhill Press, Poems For Persons Interest, TV-63 Magazine, Northern Writers Forum Journal, Eboquills, Rinna Lit.
