The African Authors Recognition Awards (AARA) has opened applications for its 2026 edition with a call for judges, an invitation to authors and literary organisations to exhibit their work, and registration for its award ceremony.
The three initiatives form part of AARA’s mission to bring together African authors, publishers, literary organisations and other members of the literary community for a programme centred on recognising and celebrating African literary talent.
Call for judges
AARA is seeking passionate and credible individuals to join its 2026 Judging Panel. Applicants for the judging panel are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Have published at least three books.
- Have received at least one literary award.
- Have previous judging or literary review experience.
- Have no conflict of interest.
- Have a good understanding of the competition.
- Demonstrate credibility and professionalism in the literary or educational community.
Interested individuals are required to submit their profile or CV and a short motivation to africaauthorsawards@gmail.com.
Exhibit your books at AARA 2026
AARA has also opened registration for its 2026 exhibition, inviting authors, publishers, librarians and literary organisations across the globe to showcase their books and creative work during the event in Windhoek, Namibia.
Both physical and virtual exhibition options are available.
The physical exhibition will take place on:
- 27 November 2026: 9am–7pm CAT
- 28 November 2026: 9am–4pm CAT
Participation costs N$350. The fee covers both physical exhibition days and inclusion in the virtual showcase.
Each physical exhibitor will receive:
- One table
- One chair
Physical exhibitors are required to provide their own books, branding, and display materials.

Secure your seat at AARA 2026
The AARA 2026 awards ceremony will take place on 28 November 2026 in Windhoek, Namibia, with registration now open for individuals and organisations wishing to attend.
The available ticket and table options are:
- VIP: N$1,000
- Standard: N$500
- Corporate VIP Table for 10: N$10,000
- Corporate Standard Table for 10: N$5,000
The programme is expected to include awards, performances, networking and stories, with the event focused on celebrating African authors and literary excellence.
Individual attendees can reserve seats, while organisations and groups can secure corporate tables through the AARA 2026 registration form.
With the judging call, exhibition registration and ceremony ticket sales now open, AARA is inviting members of the literary community to take part in different aspects of its 2026 programme ahead of the November event in Windhoek, Namibia.
