A Long House has announced that Yvonne Wabai and Sihle Ntuli have been selected as 2025 Rajat Neogy Editorial Fellows

Through their involvement with A Long House, the fellows will engage in various literary activities, including editing, writing, curating literary content, and collaborating with fellow writers, editors, and artists. Their work aims to expand the aesthetics and boundaries of writing from African and Black perspectives, reinforcing the magazine’s mission of enriching the global literary community.

The Rajat Neogy Editorial Fellowship will run for a year, from 2025 to early 2026. During this period, each fellow will receive editorial training and mentorship while working on their chapbook projects. In addition to the educational component, each fellow will be awarded $1,000 and a tote bag filled with books.

Meet the Fellows

Yvonne Wabai

Yvonne Wabai is a Kenyan writer, editor, and thinker whose work explores themes of identity, resistance, and community. Inspired by personal experiences and cultural narratives, she is dedicated to challenging oppressive structures and creating spaces where marginalized and underrepresented voices can thrive. 

Her work has been featured in The Feminist Magazine, Haunted Words Press, Unstamatic Magazine, The Kalahari Review, and more. She currently serves as the Managing Editor at Isele Magazine.

Sihle Ntuli

Sihle Ntuli is a poet, classicist, and editor from Durban, South Africa. He holds a Master of Arts in Classical Civilizations from Rhodes University and has previously lectured at the University of the Free State and the University of Johannesburg. His literary achievements include fellowships with the Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Studies in South Africa and the Centre for Stories in Australia. In 2023, he was the editor-in-chief of South Africa’s oldest literary magazine, New Contrast

His accolades include winning the 2024/2025 Diann Blakely National Poetry Competition, being named a 2024 Best of the Net poetry winner, and receiving a Pushcart Prize nomination. 

Ntuli is the author of two poetry chapbooks, Rumblin (uHlanga, 2020) and The Nation (River Glass Books, 2023), as well as two full-length poetry collections, Stranger (Aerial Publishing, 2015) and Zabalaza Republic (Botsotso Publishing, 2023).

A literary platform established in 2020 and dedicated to exploring African and Black expression through literature and critical discourse. A Long House publishes a diverse range of content, including critical discourse, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, philosophy, memoirs, conversations, collages, illustrations, and film, often blending and subverting traditional genres.
