Ubwali Literary Magazine was founded in 2024 by Mubanga Kalimamukwento, Mbozi Haimbe, and Fiske Nyirongo as a non-profit platform to nurture and showcase African writing, with a special focus on Zambian voices. Its mission is to publish work that feels nourishing and lasting stories, poems, essays, and images that stay with readers like a familiar meal or memory—my words.

The 2025 Ubwali Masterclass will be led by seven incredible writers and editors whose work spans Africa and the Caribbean. The faculty includes storyteller Yvette Lisa Ndlovu, poet and editor Adedayo Agarau, fiction writer Foday Mannah, scholar M. Neelika Jayawardane, poet and editor Sihle Ntuli, author A. K. Herman, and writer Kasimma.

Congratulations to all selected writers!
