The Roaring Lion Newcastle has launched dRAFTed, a quarterly funding scheme created to financially support Nigerian creative writers and enable them to focus on developing their work.
Through the initiative, a ₦100,000 fund will be awarded to selected writers each quarter based on need. The scheme is open to writers working across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and spoken word, provided they are Nigerian residents currently living in the country.
Submission Guidelines
- The scheme is open to Nigerian creative writers working in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or spoken word.
- Applicants must be currently residing in Nigeria.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applicants must have at least one published piece (online, print, or any publicly accessible platform) from within the last two years.
- Applicants must submit a 150–200-word statement outlining how the funds would be used (e.g., rent, utilities, medical bills, internet/data).
- Applicants must provide a link to a published creative work to demonstrate active involvement in writing.
