The Miles Morland Foundation has announced the finalists for the 2025 Morland African Writing Scholarships, chosen from more than 800 submissions across the continent. The program recorded over 300 more entries than last year, marking its strongest turnout since inception.

The annual scholarship, launched in 2013, offers financial support to African writers working on fiction and nonfiction books. Recipients receive up to £18,000 for a year extended to 18 months for non-fiction to enable them to dedicate time solely to writing. Applicants submit a previously published excerpt and a book proposal, with the only requirement being to produce at least 10,000 new words each month.
