The Writing Seminars has revealed that Olakunle Ologunro, a 2024 MFA graduate, has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Elizabeth George Foundation for 2025!

Renowned for providing artistic grants to unpublished fiction writers, poets, emerging playwrights, and organizations dedicated to supporting disadvantaged youth, The Elizabeth George Foundation will support Ologunro in completing his forthcoming collection of short stories, further solidifying his rising prominence in the literary world.

A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Ologunro has already made significant strides in the literary community. His work has been published in esteemed platforms such as Story Magazine, Lolwe, The Queer Africa Anthology, and the Feel Good anthology. 

His accolades include receiving a Tennessee Williams Scholarship in fiction at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, being longlisted for the 2024 Commonwealth Short Story Prize, and being named a finalist for the 2020 Adina Talve-Goodman Fellowship from One Story Magazine. Additionally, he has received support from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and other institutions.
