Award-winning poet, playwright, and performer Inua Ellams has been appointed as an Ambassador for First Story, England’s leading creative writing charity for young people.
Expressing his gratitude, Ellams says:
“I am thrilled to join First Story as an Ambassador, it is crucial for young people to express themselves freely through writing and share their ideas with their peers. Creativity is invaluable during youth, and First Story is an expert in nurturing it. I am delighted to work alongside Patrice Lawrence and Tracy Chevalier to amplify First Story’s important mission of empowering students from underserved communities with the confidence and skills to tell their own stories.”

Born in Nigeria, Inua Ellams MBE FRSL FRSA, is an award-winning poet, playwright and curator. His books are published by Flipped Eye, Akashic, Nine Arches, Penned In The Margins, Oberon and Methuen. Alongside his own practice, Ellams, facilitates workshops in creative writing for participants of all ages and backgrounds.
