The CRAFT 2025 Short Fiction Prize has announced its winners, with Nigerian writer Ibrahim Babátúndé Ibrahim earning a spot on the longlist for his story “A Hymen Tale.”
Organized annually, the CRAFT Short Fiction Prize celebrates innovative storytelling and is judged by prominent literary figures, with the 2025 edition overseen by author Halle Hill. The competition received submissions from around the world between March and May, with prizes totaling $2,800 and winners scheduled for publication in October 2025.
From hundreds of submissions worldwide, three winners were selected, alongside a shortlist of 12 writers, a longlist of 18 writers, and 28 honorable mentions.
Ibrahim Babátúndé Ibrahim is a Nigerian writer and editor currently based in the UK. He has won the Creative Future Writers’ Awards, the Quramo Writers’ Prize, and received support from the Jessica George Bursary. His work has been selected for Best Small Fictions anthology, and has been a finalist for Faber Children’s FAB Prize, Miles Morland Writing Scholarship, a Masters Review anthology prize, and twice for Moon City Short Fiction Award. He has also been longlisted for Commonwealth Short Story Prize, Laura Kinsella Fellowship, and Dzanc Diverse Voices Prize. He has multiple nominations for both the Pushcart Prize and the Best of the Net. Among other things, he is currently the Managing Editor of JAY Lit.
