harmattan rain-

the blanket of dust settles in

a refugee camp as gunpowder

                           wobbling ammo vehicle-

                           a wild wavelet quenches

                           the captain’s cigar

                                       weeping willow

                                       a wet leaf

                                       slips a widowed bird

                                                  war rubble

                                                  falling slowly

                                                  before the hanging crucifix
