Nigerian writer and author, Joemario Umana has been announced as a shortlistee in the Sophon Lit poetry contest for his piece, “After The Waters Waved Bye”.
The contest which celebrates exceptional literary talent in poetry, recognized Umana alongside other distinguished writers, including Debmalya Bandyopadhyay for “Jeff”, Ivi Hua for “Birthday Poem”, Fiona Jin for “Maclaurin Series”, Michelle Li for “In Rhode Island”, and Isabella Wang for “Absent Bodies”.
Inspired by the sophons of Liu Cixin’s Three Body Problem series, Sophon Lit seeks to embody ‘the boundless curiosity and interconnectedness of these proton-sized supercomputers’ while steering clear of their destructive tendencies to channel their spirit of exploration, reaching into the smallest, most profound corners of thought.
Umana, is a Nigerian creative writer, author, a lover of creativity and arts, and a performance poet. His works have appeared or are forthcoming in journals like the anthology publication of NSPP 2022, Loch Raven Review, The Kalahari Review, Lunaris Review, Ngiga Review, Eboquills, Nantygreens, Poemify, Punocracy, Spillwords and elsewhere.
