Call for Submissions: Isele Magazine

You are currently viewing Call for Submissions: Isele Magazine

Isele Magazine has unveiled its call for submissions for the upcoming quarterly issue, centering on the theme of air pollution. The issue aims to spotlight the complex and pressing narratives of air pollution through various forms of storytelling and artistic expression.

Prominent disasters such as the BioLab chemical fire in Atlanta, the Bhopal gas tragedy, the Great Smog of London, the Asia dust storms, and the relentless impact of fossil fuel emissions have demonstrated the devastating effects of air pollution on health, the environment, and global climate. This issue is open to fiction, nonfiction, poetry, photography, visual art, and hybrid works.

Submission Guidelines

  • Isele Magazine does not accept AI-generated artwork, previously published prose or poetry, or multiple submissions to different genres. However, translated works are accepted as long as the original language was not English.
  • Only one submission per contributor is allowed. For prose (fiction and nonfiction), submissions are limited to 5,000 words, while poetry submissions can include up to three poems in a single document.
  • Photography and visual art submissions should include a maximum of five images in JPEG or PNG format, accompanied by a brief note on the concept and relevance.
  • All submissions should be sent to quarterly@iselemagazine.com with the subject line formatted as Genre: Last Name (e.g., Poetry: Angelou).

Isele Magazine does not charge submission fees, making all entries free of charge, and offers a modest token of payment to all contributors. The magazine requests first serial rights for published works, but all rights revert to the creator after publication. If a piece is republished elsewhere, contributors are asked to acknowledge that it originally appeared in Isele Magazine. Additionally, all accepted submissions will automatically be considered for The Isele Prizes.

Submissions close on 31st October 2024.

Best of luck to all applicants!
