Sundress Publications has announced the release of Quantum Entanglements with Notes on Loss, a poetry chapbook by Nigerian poet and performance artist Abdulrazaq Salihu.
A runner-up in the Sundress Publications Chapbook Contest, Quantum Entanglements with Notes on Loss, explores the brutal ache of loss and grief in a haunting, heart-aching collection of poems. The horrors of violence result in the passing of the speaker’s father, and the family must now deal with the aftermath and the mourning that comes with it, but how does one grieve? How does one get through the ache of losing someone so dear to them? Drawing on science, Greek mythology, and gut-wrenching imagery of the silence that grief brings, Salihu lays starkly bare the sorrow, regret, and anger that spill out of such loss. Yet, interwoven within these poems is the heartbreaking beauty of remembering—of honoring the lives of loved ones, of keeping their memories alive, because to grieve is to have loved deeply and thoroughly.

Abdulrazaq Salihu is a member of the Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation and has received multiple literary recognitions, including the Masks Literary Magazine Poetry Award, the LAP Performance Poetry Prize, the Poetry Archive Poetry Contest, and the Nigerian Prize for Teen Authors (Poetry). His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Uncanny, Brittle Paper, Strange Horizons, Bacopa, Icefloe, Kalahari Review, and other journals. He is the author of Constellations and Hiccups (Polar Sphere, 2022).
