Pacella Chukwuma-Eke, Muna, and Jay Sukpa have been announced as the first, second, and third prize winners, respectively, of the maiden edition of the Poets in Nigeria (PIN) National Poetry Slam, held in late 2025 as part of activities marking the organisation’s 10th anniversary.

The announcement followed the grand finale of the national competition, which brought together spoken-word poets from across Nigeria. The event was organised by Poets in Nigeria and held in Lagos.

Pacella Chukwuma-Eke emerged as the champion of the competition, receiving a cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000.00).

Muna finished as the first runner-up of the competition.

  • Third Place: Jay Sukpa

Jay Sukpa

Jay Sukpa placed third in the slam. He is a spoken-word poet and winner of the PIN-organised Breakfast Poetry Slam in 2023.

The PIN National Poetry Slam, hosted by Poets in Nigeria (PIN), is a spoken-word poetry competition introduced as part of activities marking the organisation’s 10th anniversary in late 2025. The slam was organised around the theme “The Power of Words: Volunteering and Creativity,” with featured performances in English, Nigerian Pidgin, and traditional languages, bringing together poets from across the country to share personal narratives and compete for prizes.
