let me bend the poem
this way…
as if I’m plunged like
a placenta of despair.
as if I’m buried within
these vermilion walls.
The room walls bleeding
with veiled violations.
I disguise a romance
to stop myself from
folding into another
place. Silence is a lover
lips sweeter like the silky
press of a hate-poem
rubbing my spleen.
As if I’m coated in your
strident gaze. The way
you violate these shores.
Melody orchestrated
unveiled off agony
your vile weapons with
its tart orchestra.
As if I am plunged into
your lake of torment.
Crack- scrap- pierce- chip- cut.
As if the horn of the music
is piercing a hole in me.
Reborn Hitler!
As if
you’re the war of blues.
Valerie Mainoo
Valerie Blessing Mainoo is a Ghanaian poet. At a tender age she discovered her art in writing, finding poetry as a blatant yet subtle way of expression. This early discovery evolved into a deep dive in the human experience, using carefully chosen language and imagery that resonates on a personal level. She is drawn to themes of identity and the intricate relationship between language and reality. Drawing inspiration from biblical classic and contemporary poets, her goal is to connect with others through crafting pieces which both comfort and challenge the reader.
