The Republic has opened a call for three-paragraph pitches for its February–April 2026 issue, themed “On Nigeria.” The journal seeks original reporting that explores Nigeria’s politics, culture, identity, environment, inequality, creativity, and other defining topics.
The call is open to writers, journalists, researchers, photographers, illustrators, and other storytellers.
In addition to the submission details shared on social media, The Republic has published a database of preferred story areas, which is available here. Contributors may choose from those topics or propose entirely new ideas. Pitches should include a working title, overview of the story, reporting plan, potential sources, and proposed locations.
Send your pitch to editors@republic.com.ng, with the email subject marked “On Nigeria.” Pitches are due 24 November 2025, and fully reported stories must be submitted by 11 January 2026. The Republic offers a payment of ₦200,000–₦500,000 for accepted work.
