Nigerian writer, Famous Chukwuemeka, has been announced as one of the finalists for the 2024 Moon City Short Fiction Award.
Hosted by Moon City Press, the annual competition celebrates exceptional short fiction and awards a $1,000 cash prize alongside a publishing contract for the winning manuscript.
Chukwuemeka is one of eleven finalists selected from a wide pool of entries by the editors of Moon City Press.
Hailing from Owerri in Imo State, Nigeria, Famous Chukwuemeka studied Microbiology at the University of Benin but has since made a name for himself in the literary world. His novel, We Will Live Again, was released in 2023 by Griots Lounge.
Beyond novels, Chukwuemeka’s short stories and creative nonfiction have appeared in several African and international journals, including Ibua Journal, The Shallow Tales Review, and Writers Space Africa Magazine. He also co-authored the internationally collaborative novel The Poles, contributing a chapter set in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
The 2025 edition of the Moon City Short Fiction Award is now open for submissions through June 16.
The final winner will be chosen in the coming weeks, with the winning work slated for publication later this year.
