The Awele Creative Trust Award, created to uplift young Nigerian creatives, has announced its 2024 ACT Shortlist. This annual award celebrates literary talent, highlighting compelling stories that explore profound themes such as patriarchy, sacrifice and redemption, love, loss and grief, the illusion of control, hope, and despair.

Among the shortlisted authors are two JAY Lit contributors, Sunmisola Olude and Ekemini Pius. Below is the full list:

About The Award

The Awele Creative Trust Award was established in 2013.The Award is an annual short story prize for writers between the ages of 16-26. For over a decade, it has supported Nigerian creatives in literature and arts. The award aims to inspire writers and award outstanding dexterity. A monetary award of 50,000 naira is given to the final winner and 20,000 to the translator of the winning act.
